Why are They Here? Winter Birding: Birds on Land
Kachemak Bay is a special and important place for birds all year round. Join birding expert George Matz in an adventure that starts in the classroom and ends in the field. Learn all about winter birds and how climate disruption might be affecting their life on the Bay. Then, take a trip to identify them in the field. Birds on Land participants will meet in the field to identify and count birds as part of the Audubon Society's national citizen science event, the Great Backyard Bird Count. The class will be visiting private bird feeders with permission of the owners. Students must provide their own transportation.

Kachemak Bay is a special and important place for birds all year round. Join birding expert George Matz in an adventure that starts in the classroom and ends in the field. Learn all about winter birds and how climate disruption might be affecting their life on the Bay. Then, take a trip to identify them in the field. Birds on the Water participants will take a 4-hour boat excursion to see where birds winter on the water.

*Class fee includes boat trip. Students must register by 2/15!
